Mutter Paneer

Vegetarian curry made with peas and home made cheese

This easy to prepare all time restaurant favorite is a sure crowd pleaser. It is great to make ahead of time for a dinner party. Make the paneer a day or two ahead. 

1 cup paneer cubes
2 cups cooked green peas
3 tablespoons tomato ketchup
Salt to taste
4 tablespoons yogurt
1 teaspoon ginger paste
1 teaspoon garlic paste
2 table spoons oil
For the onion paste
2 medium onions sliced
1 1/2 teaspoons cumin seeds
3 sticks of cinnamon
3 cloves
3 peppercorns
2 teaspoons coriander powder
1/4th teaspoon turmeric powder
3 tablespoons oil


Heat the oil and fry the onions and the spices for a minute or two. Grind into a paste. Heat the oil, add the ginger and garlic paste. Now add the onion paste. Add the tomato ketchup and fry for a little while. Add the salt and yogurt and let it simmer for a few minutes. Now add the green peas and paneer. Garnish with garam masala, and freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve with Jeera rice or Naan.
