Chicken or Makhani Chicken
is butter in hindi. Therefore Makhani chicken is called Butter Chicken. This
special chicken dish has the flavors of India without the overwhelming
spices. Creamy. slightly tangy and sweet; this is a mild curry. It is
very popular in many Indian restaurants here in the US. This is a good
dish to order if you have never eaten Indian food.
It is high
in fat as the ingredients suggest, but you can always make it
lower in fat by using the alternative ingredients.
- 2 1/2
cups Tomato puree
Tablespoons plain flour
- 1/2 cup Heavy
Cream or Fat free yogurt
- 1 teaspoon red
- 6 Tablespoons
- 2 Star Anise
- 2 teaspoons
- Salt to taste
- Heavy cream to
the tomato puree, flour and the heavy cream or the yogurt. Heat
the butter, when the foam has almost subsided, add the star anise.
Stir, now add the red chili powder. Add
the chicken and salt to taste. Now add the tomato puree mixture. Mix
well. The sauce will start to thicken. Garnish with heavy cream.

Tip: Used canned pureed
tomatoes. Itís easy! Always keep pureed tomatoes on hand; they come in
